Also bring samples of your work that you can show to the interviewer. You may need to provide photo ID to enter the building. The security guard may ask you the company you’re visiting, the name of the person you’re meeting with, and what floor they’re on. Nonverbal communication is important in the workplace because it affects the work environment. To improve your nonverbal skills, you must first identify the areas where you are lacking. Establish eye contact when speaking to others. Eye contact is important for communication. It  shows the other party that you’re interested in what he is saying. Offer a smile when talking to someone. This tells people that you are happy or in a good mood. Look at your posture. Your body movement is also important. Your tone of voice and the sounds you make can communicate your thoughts to others without your even speaking.

Follow Up


Many interviews end with “Do you have any questions?” Bring a list. You may say, “In preparing for today’s meeting, I took some time to jot down a few questions. Please allow me to review my notes”. When you apply for jobs, see if you can get a business card from the store manager or hiring manger. Then follow up with a thank you note or email message thanking them for considering your application.
